Safe Home For Domestic Violence

Funded through BC Transitional Housing

The Safe Homes Program is program operated through Castlegar and District Community services, and funded through BC Housing.

This program provides short term housing and support for women and children who have experienced domestic violence, while promoting options for making positive changes in their lives.

This short term support includes safe, immediate emergency accommodations for women and their dependent children for one or up to 45 days.  Additionally, transportation is available to a Transition House in Trail or Nelson, as well as referrals to the food bank and other community agencies.

Further support includes: Safety planning, advocacy for the victim-identified needs, and counseling about the cycle of violence.

In addition to supplying women and children with a safe home, the program manager can offer assistance with navigating the legal system, with the aim of reducing violence in relationships.
