Castlegar is making strides towards filling its housing deficit, but still has a long way to go.
In 2023, the City of Castlegar identified an immediate need for 464 housing units through an in-depth housing needs assessment.
Statistics released by province show that over the last three years, (2022-2024) construction has begun on 135 new housing units in the city. Between 2014 and 2021, annual averages ranged from 7 to 21, with 111 units added during that eight-year span.
