Seniors Outreach Programs
Funded Through Donations:
Direct Support: The top 5 issues are forms, income, health related, debt and housing. Over 25 different issues have been dealt with including a large number of diverse topics including research, access/completion of forms, income applications and queries, debt support, tenancy/landlord issues, connections and information on municipal, provincial and federal services. This will also include basic needs, hunger and housing concerns (including homeless seniors)
Outreach: This provided education and awareness to community groups about the SOS Program and free training that teaches the types, signs and how to react to suspicions of elder abuse. Outreach was also provided to individual seniors who may be isolated or lonely, through telephone calls offering a connection and other supports.
Resource library: ensured a multitude of printed information regarding seniors’ health, services and supports was readily available.
Better at Home Seniors Program
(Funded through the United Way of the Lower Mainland)
The program provides non-medical supports to seniors, in their homes, helping seniors remain independent. Services are provided by volunteers and contractors and include Housekeeping, Transportation, Friendly Visitor and more. Fees based on sliding scale according to income.
